A Stick Insect (order Phasmida) spotted at Upper Seletar Reservoir Park, Singapore, on 16 May 2021. I was lucky to spot it: I was looking at a butterfly perched on a lower leaf which took off. My eyes followed it upwards briefly, and then settled on the stick insect, quietly standing there hoping I wouldn't see it. 🙂

Oyez, oyez, braves gens !

The Chocolate Albatross (Appias lyncida) has made its seasonal appearance in Singapore, and here are my shots of. Apparently, this year it is pretty abundant compared to previous years. Taken at Upper Seletar Reservoir Park on 16 May 2021.
The Chocolate Albatross is abundant in nearby peninsula Malaysia, but only appears seasonally (and rarely) in Singapore.

As we go into colder weather it is not easy for many #insects.
#Wasps have mainly gone into hibernation - I found lots of German wasps when shifting firewood from my wood-pile.
There are still #Monarchs around, #caterpillars, chrysalises and butterflies. The latest to hatch near the house, I took down to my garden where it could find some flowers with nectar to fuel its flight to some wintering spot.
Another #chrysalis turned up on an unused hose reel, which I've put in a safe place to hatch.
Happy the encounter the Mangrove Pitta (Pitta megarhyncha) while walking at Pasir Ris Park mangrove area, Singapore, on 15 May 2021. It has a lot of pretty colours on its back and belly.
The Mangrove Pitta is listed at Near Threatened on the IUCN List.
