Cloudy and light rain above 2000 meters today so we kept below the cloud level and had a nice circular hike from the white village of Bubion in the Poqueira Valley.
Hoya del Portillo walk to the beautiful Rio Bermejo today
Yet another fabulous day last Friday with the Chris Stewart walking group under the spanish blue skies and white villages around Busquistar. The Río Trevelez in full flow below
Today I've been hiking round the quiet, arab-influenced villages of La Taha before crossing the ancient bridge over the Rio Trevelez, ascending the gorge via the old pack horse trail and then dropping down to a fine lunch at El Valero, author Chris Stewart's farm..
The road into Lanjarón from the Alpujarras with the prominent long valley of the Río Lanjarón that leads up to the snow capped peak of the Cerro de Caballo. At 3009 metres asl this is Europe's most south westerly 3000+ metre peak.
A nice sight to see. Water flowing down the "acequias" (irrigation channel) this morning, illuminated by the morning sun.
Another windy day in Lanjaron. It started to build while I was out with Arko this morning. Yesterday was crazy with a couple of gusts over 75 km/hr, hoping today won't be so bad even if the alerts are still being activated. I don't think the greenhouse will survive another onslaught like yesterday.

A bright but very breezy morning here in southern Spain. We recorded very high winds yesterday of over 75 km/hr and incredibly our solar panels manage to stay attached to the house! Similar today I am given to understand. Fingers crossed. Have a great weekend fellow Mastos
Out working today, not a bad view from the office

Been out today enjoying the Alpujarra villages of La Taha with a group of American visitors hiking with author Chris Stewart (Driving Over Lemons).
Linear hike from Ferreirola to Pampaneira after a stop for a tapa lunch in Capileira.
Some quiet corners of some of our traditional Alpujarra villages. The roofs are built with traditional materials and some date back to the times of occupation by the Moors. Wonderful places to visit where time seems to have stood still
Just had to stop and take this photo on my way to "work" this morning. The first rays of the sun are illuminating the Alpujarra towns of Bubion and Capileira. The Barranco de Poqueira remains in shade but the Sierra Nevada ridge rises behind with Veleta (3394m) prominent. Today out guiding with a Chris Stewart group between Ferreirola and Pampaneira via the towns/villages of Pitres, Capilerilla, Capileira and Bubion.
A section of the GR142 long distance path through the Alpujarras this morning. And what a morning it is. Have a great weekend everybody.
