Heather
7. After a bit of an interrupted night - a sore septum night last night - with rough sleep from 5am when I took off the mask, I can't believe I used to cope on sleep interrupted by bad dreams and abrupt gasping wakings. I don't know how I did it.

So if you think you might have #sleepApnea #sleepApnoea get yourself checked out. If you need to sleep with a #CPAP it's not the end of the world. Some people sail through, I made hard work of it, but it works in the end.

Heather
3. and I realised that part of the problem was the seal of the mask pressing on a raised mole near my nose. The obvious solution to that was a nasal mask of some sort, so after a couple of attempts I got an appointment at the resp medicine clinic Jan/Feb this year. They weren't convinced it was right for me but it was that or not be able to use a #CPAP at all, so they decided to give it a go. They gave me nasal pillows which sit under the nostrils instead of encasing the nose cont'd

Heather
This is an update on my experience of learning to sleep with a #CPAP machine. It's intended primarily as encouragement for anyone newly diagnosed with #sleepApnea #sleepApnoea, because for me, early on, reading about other people's success stories was the only way I stuck with it.

I was diagnosed November 2024, which I wasn't really expecting. I really really wasn't expecting to be told I needed to sleep with a CPAP machine and was a bit alarmed at the prospect esp being claustrophopbic cont'd

Mike 🇬🇧 🇪🇺
Good morning.

I slept well, but was woken up by noises from Sacha's CPAP mask - and now she's using it she's started snoring as well - and I can't get back to sleep. I've got severe doubts about this #CPAP thing.

Sacha is at her last physiotherapy appointment this morning, so I'm driving her there as usual.
We need to get the rest of the hall, stairs and landing clear for the decorator who will be here at 8am tomorrow - so that's a job for this afternoon.

I'm feeling a bit 'flat' this morning. I need some energy, motivation and maybe a bit of joy in my life.

Anyway - enjoy your Wednesday.

#Today #SleepApnea #GoodMorning

Mike 🇬🇧 🇪🇺
We've got nothing planned for today, except keeping cool. The forecast is for it to be slightly higher than yesterday at about 30°C.

Yesterday I discovered that the garden pond pump had died, so I've ordered a new one - I'm not getting yet another Hozelock one as they only seem to last a couple of years and care at least twice the price of competitors.

On the opposite side, we've actually got a delivery date for Sacha's new car. Only 10 more sleeps! (if I've counted correctly).

Sacha seems to be getting on well with her CPAP machine, much to my surprise - although the stupid app won't connect and show her the graphs.

#Today #GardenPond #cpap #weather #leicestershire

Mike 🇬🇧 🇪🇺
Following on from Sacha's recent tests and consultations she's now got a three month trial of a CPAP machine to see if it might be sleep apnea causing some of her other issues.

The main thing I'm concerned about is transporting the thing (in its smart bag) during our rail, bus & ferry holidays.
I'm going to need a new packing strategy.

#cpap #sleepApnea #packing

Yai Torres
#CPAP therapy materials often seem aimed at specific groups, like those who are “overweight” or “older.” But guess what? You don’t have to fit those categories to be diagnosed with sleep apnea—I didn’t, and I have moderate sleep apnea with about 20 events an hour.

If you’re feeling a bit off, it might be a good idea to get checked out. And if you have a partner who mentions that you sound like you’re choking in your sleep, definitely take their words to heart! It took me a little while to finally make it to the doctor, but I'm so glad I did. Remember, you don’t have to wait until you’re older or heavier to seek a better quality of life! Besides, future you would appreciate it.

Yai Torres
This is my tenth consecutive day of #CPAP. It has been an interesting journey that is finally paying dividends. After several adjustments and accessories, I can say that it’s worth it. I’m getting good AHI scores and woke up feeling 100% today.

Heather
Does anyone who uses nasal pillows find they get pressure on the septum? Sometimes it can get quite uncomfortable and tonight it's been bad enough to have to take the mask off and could be what's wakened me. Other nights it's not such a problem. Is this a known issue? I'm not aware that I have a particularly huge septum 😄 Mask is a small. #cpap #sleepapnoea

James Trickle uP
My first #CPAP therapy anomaly happened... I woke up at 5 this morning with the mask set aside. According to my SD card via the OSCAR app, it was about 4 hours before that, that I must have taken it off in my sleep, or I got up to pee and was so sleepy I failed to put it back on. In any case, I dont remember being awake at that time. I put it back on right away and got about 4.5 hours of therapy total.

As long as it is not a regular habit, I won't worry about it. I've heard that some people put on oven mitts to sleep until they train themselves not to take off the mask while sleeping.

James Trickle uP
CPAP week 1 passed with no major issues. I've been using it all night long and getting high scores from the Bluetooth connected app. Feeling less drowsy in afternoons too. Some minor tickling irritation of my nose while I'm using it, and the first couple exhales require more force, but otherwise good. A lot of people have a horrible time with these gadgets. KarakSindru (He/Him)
Does anyone have tips on where in the US to get less expensive mask cushions for a #cpap ? I've got a ResMed F20 system but I keep using the mask cushions way longer than the recommended 30 days since $60 each seems like something I should hold onto longer. I'm aware there are less expensive options on Amazon but I'd rather avoid them if possible.
