If it only affects them, that's fine. But when they're aggressively bothering others, it's a problem. They're the <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/scolds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#scolds</a> that jump on posts, frequently those new to the <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/fediverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#fediverse</a>, giving forceful instructions about their <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/behaviour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#behaviour</a>.<a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Demanding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Demanding</a> strangers add content warnings to posts mentioning subjects that bother you is not <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/reasonable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#reasonable</a>. It's like walking up to someone you don't know in a coffee shop and demanding they turn their laptop screen away from you because you don't like the article they're reading or the email they're writing. Some people on the receiving end of this behaviour will accommodate such <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/demands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#demands</a>, just to avoid the conflict -- but you should not be surprised, or offended, if you get a harsher response telling you to mind your own damn business.It's similar for people demanding others add alt-text to images. I do it. Lots of people do. But the people who don't add alt text don't owe anybody anything. You demanding they spend their time doing something because you want it, not because they want to, is simply not reasonable behaviour.This scares people away from the community - justifiably, because it's <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/aggressive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#aggressive</a>, <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/unsolicited" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#unsolicited</a>, unwanted criticism.This happens in other spheres, too. As a Free Software author, I sometimes get email from people demanding I implement a feature or change a behaviour to suit their preferences.Please don't be like this.
