At the link you’ll find an English subtitled video from Zelenskyy’s daily address to his people on May 8 / VE Day. It is good. But what struck me more was the little clip at the beginning where for a split second he just looks like a normal person, trying to gather his words before starting. It is a reminder that he *is* a normal person thrust into a moment of history. Now he is part of history.
Glory to Ukraine — because it is the new frontline of the fight against fascism, imperialism, colonialism, and regression.
Glory to the Heroes — the heroes giving their lives and their wellbeing to physically struggle against invading forces. The heroes giving their lives to support their countrymen/women on those frontlines. The heroes in power trying to hold the line of democracy, decency, human rights, and collaboration. The heroes voting and living and existing in a free world, participating in democracy and ensuring it thrives.
But especially, glory to the heroes who are not yet free and are struggling against genocidal forces against all odds to be so. The world sees you. Supports you. And wants you to be free.
