VanGoYo<p>My very first EVA foam prop was a large Skarmory knife in 2018. VanGoYo<p>Years ago, I was inspired to bring to life a great piece of art by my friend, Doug. I used a crusader helmet template by Ben Eadie as a basis for the helmet and constructed it out of floor mat foam and craft foam. VanGoYo<p>I'm modifying a "Nerf" gun to look similar to Snipe Hunter's gun from Yu-Gi-Oh. Not only that, it's also going to function as a dice tower!</p><p>...somehow...</p><p>My brother asked me to make him a dice tower and he used Snipe Hunter, a dice-rolling card, all the time back in the day (that cheater). VanGoYo<p>My first Megaman Battle Network prop was a scaled-up Battle Chip for a friend's 30th birthday. </p><p>The body is made from layers of EVA foam and can hold any 4x6-inch photo. The nameplate is a plexiglass insert so you can write any names for any photos you want.</p><p>The "Recover 30 HP" photo was perfect for his birthday. I didn’t know how I was going to do it. The Thingiverse STL file has a solid interior, I’ll have to hollow it. I knew I wanted lights in it / on it, I had no idea how I was going to do it. So I did what we all do: put it to the side.<br>So the next print, it’s on the printer now, is <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/DevilsTower" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DevilsTower</span></a> from <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/CloseEncountersoftheThirdKind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CloseEncountersoftheThirdKind</span></a>. I thought I’d paint it to make it look like stone, add some scale model shrubbery. But wouldn’t it be cool if there were a huge spaceship hovering over it? There’s no STL files of the mothership but I still kept going. Watched a video on the miniature effects and one of the tricks they used was painting over transparent so lights shone through. Ah ha! Boom, Enterprise D. Retro Gerry<p>First attempt at painting the golden key of ACG from the 8 bit classic atic atac. The airbrush gives a much better effect with gold paint than hand painting does this is the first ive used it and really like it.<br>The key breaks apart into 3 parts, and lock together again using magnets </p><p>Ive still to varnish it. At the moment it does have more of a brass look to it.
