This is after sending me a dirty, broken pulse oximeter, then ignoring my calls and attempts to inform them of this. The sensor readings were consistently low, but I foolishly tested with it anyway. Swede’s Photographs
Good morning. 😴😪💤

10 February 2025

I just got home from a sleep study—fell asleep during the study, ha ha! This was my second one, this time with a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) device over my nose. Right now, I can't see myself using it every night, but you know what they say—never say never. At the moment, I still have that goop from the electrodes in my hair, and I'm feeling and looking a little frazzled, kind of like the bird in this morning's photo. What else do I have to get done today? Oh, nothing, just like most days—it'll be nap time soon. I chuckled because Ben is curled up and snoring behind my chair.

“I love sleep. Alejandra Gonzalez
As a personal update on my life (rare): I just had an tonsillectomy about 48 hours ago to fix my heavy #sleepapnea , it's great having more than 5 minutes of REM sleep by night, sleeping 8 hours and waking up by myself and without the need to sleep at least 4 more, and being able to work in the way I used to about two years ago!

In just 2 days I've recovered and reset 2 years of sleeping very badly (so bad I was sleeping 18-21 hours a day and they were still not enough, I had literally barely enough time to eat and maybe work some days).

If you're suffering from the life-ruining condition of sleep apnea, get a tonsillectomy. Yeah, the recovery is painful, but it's *so* worth it I'm not even able to describe it.

genXcrone (she/her)
My CPAP machine's motor is apparently past it's expected life span so time for me to get another sleep tests because health insurance company requirements suck.

So I messaged my doctor because I've seen this home test and I've had two other tests, one in a hospital and one at a sleep med specialist, and this home test is nothing. A little box on your chest and something to stuff up your nose. I stop breathing 149 times per hour. I don't know if this little machine and no extra sensors can pick that up.

The reason my sleep apnea is so bad (is not fat) is because my soft palate is defective. I'm nervous this thing won't pick up what it should and my CPAP machine settings will be wrong and then sleeping will be bad and stroke risk will rise.

I'm also just plain nervous to sleep without my CPAP machine. It is not comfortable to stop breathing 149 times each hour and it is surely not restful.

#SleepApnea

Will 🏳️‍🌈
I had a sleep study a few weeks back. I went into it with the hope that I would be told that, nope, I no longer had obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). After all, I lost a huge amount of weight this year and had a nose surgery that normally helps people with OSA.

Fast forward to yesterday. Looks like it's actually worse than before, and I have even more complications. Oh, and I have to do another in-lab sleep study, because they didn't get certain data the first time around.

It'll all work out in the end, but still, it's always tough when your expectations don't turn into reality. 😉

#SleepApnea #SleepStudy

This was through a private sleep clinic, and not the NHS.

I decided to now go through the #NHS so I can get better and more regular monitoring. This means I’m picking up a new CPAP machine, as mine isn’t compatible- I could see my initial purchase as a waste, but I’m not because I’ve been treated for 10 months while not waiting for the NHS.

Recently I’ve found that the silicone mask is irritating my skin, and I think that I may be slightly allergic. I’d bought some covers ages ago, but couldn’t figure out how to fit them - well, I have, and it seems that my skin likes it much better now.

Shantell Powell
Is it possible to sleep apnea to go away on its own? As an experiment, I've not been using my CPAP for the past couple of nights and I haven't been waking up as frequently during the night. I checked my blood oxygen levels, and they are great. My daytime energy seems fine, too. Why do #obesity drugs seem to treat so many other ailments?

“Curbing #addiction isn’t the only potential extra benefit of #GLP1 drugs. Other studies have suggested they can reduce the risk of #death, #stroke and #heart attacks for people with #cardiovascular disease or chronic #kidney ailments, ease #sleepapnea symptoms and even slow the development of #Parkinson’s disease.

There are now hundreds of clinical trials testing the drugs for these conditions and others as varied as fatty liver disease, #Alzheimer’s disease, cognitive dysfunction and #HIV complications.”
