TROM<p>We have updated our Peertube to version 7! Lots of cool stuff - read more <a href="https://joinpeertube.org/news/release-7.0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here</a>.</p><p>But the most important for us is the visual aspect. Now we are using the main and default and much improved Peertube themes (Dark/Light) with very very minimal changes (maybe 5 lines of CSS).</p><p>No more broken UI, no more being unable to have a proper dark theme, no headaches with every Peertube updated. They have made an awesome theme and we will go with that.</p><p>We need to promote this platform more often and I ask people to try and be a bit more brave ;) and prioritize Peertube. Post there like we do. TROM<p>TROM.tf server updated to the latest Yunohost and Debian. However our Matrix server is currently not working, probably lots of database migrations are still on the way. Hopefully in a few hours it should work, if not there is some work to do to fix it.</p><p>TROM Send is not working - will see what can be done about that. For now it has been removed.</p><p>And we have removed our Pixelfed instance. It was setup for testing purposes and I, Tio do not have time to manage it. Plus the YNH package is not very up to date. You have to trade something to them, in order to use their services.</p><p>In the same way that when you go to a supermarket you have to trade your currency for what you grab from it, you have to trade your attention (ads) or data to Google when you go on their platform. Currency, attention, data.</p><p>S I M P L E</p><p>We live in a TRADE-BASED society where pretty much everything is trade-based. Roko has been helping with our TROM projects for a while now. <a href="https://www.tromjaro.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">TROMjaro</a> would not be possible the way it is now without him. He is the one coding our layout and theme switchers and a lot more.</p><p>Roko got TROM's "legacy" laptop a year ago :) but unfortunately the motherboard died :(. So he ended up using an old laptop that barely worked. He could barely test stuff for TROMjaro. So he really needed a good machine.</p><p>Now he will buy one and will be able to more easily help with the TROM project. We have a lot of plans! As I have said many times, recycling plastic is not a solution, but rather a convenient distraction and a way to shift the responsibility of large companies for mass production of plastic onto the shoulders of the people. There are some very disturbing news, which are that recycling is not going to help in a long run and there is only <strong>5-6%</strong> of collected plastics estimated as being recycled (!). On the other hand, the poorest countries and regions suffer the most from toxic waste products and landfills, because this brings the greatest profit, and if this is still the case, the problem will never be solved.</p><p>We need more trade-free goods and services that can be designed from the scratch to reduce the waste, instead of generation the endless profit or competition advantage. This is also a very good that you emphasize that YouTube content (or any other content) has never been free and it has always been in return for your data and attention (ads). That is a really good analysis, but I would also like to encorage you to look even beyond that, on the root-cause of this urge for profits, which eventually ruins everything - the incentive to trade. We have to build a society, which fulfills at least basic needs for the people for surviving in this world, so they can have more time to create something meaningful, share with others and enjoy what they are doing (including creating more content they like for the alternative platforms), rather than dying at somewhat jobs just to have food and shelter.<br><br>There are TROM project and <span class="h-card"><a href="https://social.trom.tf/profile/tio" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>tio</span></a></span>, who has been arguing for more than 10 years already that The TRADE is the origin of the most problems humanity faces today and that we have to oppose ever-increasing persuit of profit. They recenly released <a href="https://www.tromsite.com/documentaries/trom2/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">a 5 hours long documentary</a>, describing this problem in great details and discussing the possible solutions to it, such as <a href="https://www.trade-free.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">trade-free movement</a>.
