Kelson<p>Continuing <a href="https://hyperborea.org/reviews/tag/web-browser/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">my survey of current web browsers</a>, I'll note that the <a href="https://hyperborea.org/reviews/software/tor-browser/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Tor Browser is really good at its job</a> of keeping your private web browsing <em>actually private</em>, and there are mitigations available for edge cases like someone being able to tell that you're using Tor (even if they can't tell what you're doing with it).</p><p>The cost of that privacy is mostly that it's slow and won't be able to handle some web applications (either because features have been disabled or because the website blocks Tor), so it's inconvenient for everyday browsing, but if you need to hide activity from a stalker, an abuser, a harassment campaign, a government, etc. it's worth learning how to use it.</p><p><a href="https://notes.kvibber.com/tags/privacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>privacy</span></a> <a href="https://notes.kvibber.com/tags/webbrowsers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebBrowsers</span></a> <a href="https://notes.kvibber.com/tags/torbrowser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TorBrowser</span></a></p>

OMG! Ubuntu!<p>Kagi is Bringing Orion Web Browser to Linux</p><p>Kagi, the company behind a paid, private search engine1 of the same name, has announced it’s bringing its Webkit-based Orion web browser to Linux. In a post on BlueSky, Kagi said: “We’re thrilled to announce that development of the Orion Browser for Linux has officially started!”. Feature-parity with the macOS version is expected by next year (all going well). Orion is said to best Safari, Google Chrome, and Firefox in many areas on macOS: zero-telemetry browser; built-in ad and tracking blocking; lower memory usage; faster page speeds; greater battery efficiency, support for Chrome Extensions and Firefox Add-ons. Lanie Molinar Carmelo<p>Curious if any other <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/jaws" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jaws</span></a> users have noticed some weirdness with copying things to the clipboard lately, especially in <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/WebBrowsers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebBrowsers</span></a>. I primarily use <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/MicrosoftEdge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MicrosoftEdge</span></a> but have noticed it in other places too. Take this for example: I'm writing some notes on <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/WCAG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WCAG</span></a> success criteria in <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/Joplin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Joplin</span></a>, getting some information from <a href="https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Understanding/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">this page on understanding WCAG</a>. I selected the number and name of SC 1.2.3 and pressed CTRL+C. JAWS should have copied " 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded)", but all it copied was "1.2.3 ". I tried this several times, making sure I had all the text selected. It's not the first time it's happened lately, either. I've noticed it for at least the last few weeks, and it's very frustrating. Sometimes I'll switch to <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/NVDA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NVDA</span></a> just because I know it will copy things correctly.<br><a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/ScreenReader" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ScreenReader</span></a> <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/Accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Windows</span></a> <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/Windows11" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Windows11</span></a> <a href="https://allovertheplace.ca/tags/WindowsEleven" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WindowsEleven</span></a> <br><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@freedomscientific" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>freedomscientific</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/mastoblind" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>mastoblind</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://rblind.com/c/main" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>main</span></a></span></p>
