Fabio Manganiello<p>This is really getting out of hand.</p><p>We all know that <a class="hashtag" href="https://manganiello.social/tag/nocode" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#NoCode</a> sucked. We all know that block programming was never good for anything other than learning and prototyping.</p><p>But hey, it looks like <a class="hashtag" href="https://manganiello.social/tag/ai" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#AI</a> and <a class="hashtag" href="https://manganiello.social/tag/vibecoding" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#VibeCoding</a> fare a bit better right? And they could actually be the killers of the draggable blocks that we were all looking for.</p><p>But of course AI makes a lot of mistakes as well, it hallucinates APIs and configurations that don’t exist, and it will probably break production if you don’t double-check its code - and leave you alone to clean up the mess.</p><p>So how do NoCode companies try to pivot in the age of LowCode/VibeCode?</p><p>Simple, mesh VibeCoding and NoCode together!</p><p>Companies like Bubble apparently are pivoting away from building their Lego Mindstorm IDEs, to building products that leverage AI to solve coding problems. But instead of generating Python, Rust or JS these models would generate output in the NoCode intermediate language developed by Bubble, which in turn gets translated into real code. The advantage, according to the proponents, is that an output in their NoCode framework makes it easier for a non-programmer to understand what’s going on (compared to some undecypherable Python I guess).</p><p>Like, how many layers of abstraction, points of failure, corporate lock-ins and unaccountable production errors are you as a business likely to accept, just to avoid paying a salary to an engineer, and just because you really want your sales people to deploy data pipelines instead?</p><p><a href="https://thenewstack.io/no-code-is-dead/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://thenewstack.io/no-code-is-dead/</a></p>

Jeff Toon<p><b>Ein paar Kinder im Alter von 10 bis 12 Jahren wollen gemeinsam programmieren.</b> Sie wollen mal "schnell" erst ein "Jump and Run"-Spiel wie zum Beispiel das OpenSourceSpiel "Hurrican" nachbauen, dann mal kurz einen "Ego-Shooter" als Parodie zu MineCraft erschaffen, um dann ein Echtzeit-Strategie-Spiel wie Diablo zu bauen. Natürlich mit vielen hochkreativen eigenen Ideen. So der Plan der Kinder. 😉</p><p>Alle haben in letzter Zeit ganz gut intensive Erfahrungen mit Scratch gesammelt und ein oder zwei der Kinder haben mal etwas mit Python und Java gemacht. Aber ganz in den Anfängen alles.</p><p>Ihnen zu sagen "Vergesst es!", wäre irgendwie unfair und würde ihnen den Schwung und die Begeisterung klauen. Das Unterfangen, so wie sie sich es vorstellen, ist natürlich zum Scheitern verurteilt. All die genannten Spiele benötigen viele, viele Stunden an Entwicklungszeit. Und dann muss man bereits programmieren KÖNNEN. Und nicht gerade erst ganz von Vorne anfangen.</p><p>Ihnen jetzt die Grundlagen des Programmierens (Befehle, Schleife, Bedingung, Klassen, Module, usw.) beizubringen, ist sicherlich gut. Aber es wird sie recht schnell ermüden, denn den Kindern wird dann schnell klar, dass der Weg mit Python oder Java zu solchen Ergebnissen wie diese genannten Spiele unendlich lang ist.</p><p>Was gibt es für Plattform übergreifende OpenSource Tools für den Desktop, mit denen die Kinder vielleicht ähnlich wie bei Scratch durch Klicken programmieren und Spiele erstellen können? Und OHNE erst die klassische Programmierung vollständig kennenzulernen ... Und ohne die irre Komplexität wie es zum Beispiel bei der OpenSource GameEngine Godot der Fall ist.<br>Wichtig wäre, dass sie etwas aus dem Scratch-Universum mit seinen Schranken ausbrechen und auch im Team arbeiten und ihre Ergebnisse zusammenbauen können.
