(important for the next question)<br>Do you receive enough financial compensation to survive on?<br><br>Basically I am working on a blog post where I want to write about the current financial situation of the FOSS community, many criticize FOSS for it being exploitative in which companies take FOSS work and don't give any financial compensation to the maintainer, or how maintainers are overworked or work too much without receiving enough financial aid to sustain themselves.<br><br>So any type of comment would really help. You can reply here, reply privately or message me on matrix (samuelhautamaki:envs.net) or on email (samuelhautamaki@envs.net).</p>

Dusty<p>I've found an awesome <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/copyparty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>copyparty</span></a> feature when using it from an <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/Apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Apple</span></a> mobile device. I save various images from <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/Mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mastodon</span></a> on my <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/iPad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iPad</span></a>. These get automatically squirreled into the <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/iPadOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iPadOS</span></a> (walled garden) App called "Photos". These images aren't just in a straightforward file folder accessible from the "Files" file browser app (for bulk copying to the destination of your choice). Annoyingly, you may export one "photo" at a time from <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/Photos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Photos</span></a>. (my saved Mastodon images aren't always photos, but this is where they go)</p><p>In <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a>, in Copyparty, I can use up2k to upload files. It allows me to upload from the (hoity-toity accent) "Photo Library"! If I swipe my finger right-to-left, I can multiselect lots of images at once. There appears to be no limit. I uploaded 60 such images in one go. The upload was blazing fast over wifi, taking a few seconds. up2k tore through the queue of files like a chainsaw.</p><p>This is a great way to liberate the images from the walled garden in bulk, not one at a time. </p><p>Thanks for the jailbreak from the "Photos" walled garden, Copyparty!</p><p><a href="https://autistics.life/tags/SelfHosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SelfHosting</span></a> <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/OpenSource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenSource</span></a></p>
