'Neath Clouds And Northern Lights

On a windy February night, we waited for the skies to clear and the show to begin.
The farm buildings of Grenivík provided some small ground level lights, while the stars danced a duet with the . Even the approaching snow clouds couldn't hide the beauty completely.

Very cold, and extremely windy, but we weren't giving up on a promising forecast!
The camera sees far more but, yes, you could see a hint. We have been beneath aurora so bright that you could see the ground beneath your feet, but this wasn't one of those times.
There are some places in Iceland that are recognised "dark sky areas" - they are astonishing! We've even seen airglow, which is very rare.
