Please add descriptions to your images.
There are visually impaired users floating about the federverse and they deserve descriptions.
A simple description of "airplane" or "cute Kitty" is sufficient. You can do more if you like, but at least add a succinct, basic description if possible.
@ambassador Thanks for the reminder; I am going to start doing that!
@ambassador fwiw my app doesn't have that functionality yet qwq
if it's tusky, tap the image after it uploads and it'll give a small menu
some of the others likely work the same way
(I don't know that they do, ofc. this is meant as a tip not a correction)
@ambassador what. how do you do that
@alice You can add it to the end of a toot or if on Mastodon there are ways to add an image description when posting a toot (click the text box when hovering over the picture icon i think).
@ambassador thanks for the assistance
@ambassador And for those developing a web-based client, make sure to put the image description in both the 'title' (hover text) and 'alt' (screen reader text) attribute!
@ambassador Do you know if client apps typically support it? I don’t see it in Tootdon…
@neven subway Tooter definitely supports it if you click on the image thumbnail when composing a post.
maight be the same in tootdon?
@ambassador I usually remember to do this, but about half the time my mobile app screws up and the description isn't included. (Tusky)
@ambassador Anyone know how to add photo descriptions in the Tootle iOS client? Thanks!
