#inquest concluded today - #collision was caused by grossly excessive speed - 94mph (151 km/h) in a 30mph (48 km/h) zone *and* #DUI

According to the #Police (on their own website) its one of the largest losses of life in a single #RTC in recent times (although I've seen quite a few double #fatals in Essex recently).

Vehicle was #Ford Focus ST, a performance orientated variant (reported on Daily Mail and Sky)

I think every 6th former in #Essex and #Suffolk should be made to learn about this incident and its consequences as part of PHSE ..

I kind of agree with Sadiq Khan here, but this is not anything like full #decriminalisation and I doubt it would reduce #crime levels that much - most stoners don't really do much crime (other than maybe #DUI ), its the hustle culture of low to medium level dealing that leads to bloodshed, and that could only be reduced by having tolerated and regulated distribution networks (you rarely hear of rival vape shop owners stabbing each other!)

BBC NewsLondon mayor backs report calling for cannabis decriminalisationThe London Drugs Commission is calling for possession of cannabis for personal use to be decriminalised.

“The OR of car crashes associated with COVID-19 was comparable to driving under the influence of alcohol at legal limits or driving with a seizure disorder.
Conclusions
The study suggests that acute COVID-19, regardless of Long COVID status, is linked to an increased risk of car crashes presumably due to neurologic changes caused by SARS-CoV-2. These findings underscore the need for further research into the neuropsychological impacts of COVID-19. Further studies are recommended to explore the causality and mechanisms behind these findings and to evaluate the implications for public safety in other critical operational tasks. Finally, neurologists dealing with post-COVID patients, should remember that they may have an obligation to report medically impaired drivers.”

Not sure if that many of todays middle aged would get the Ford Anglia reference - these were already rare when we were young boys!

The doctor would be better off as well as pointing out health risks from #cocaine (which many men don't care about) reminding them its illegal, easily detectable via swabs at roadside #DUI checks, and if you are caught with it in your bloodstream you won't be driving anything for a year or more..

@VBe_mednum @cnnum Tout d'abord reprenons le discours de Bernard Benhamou : youtube.com/watch?v=3Nk-ctoFoW

#Facebook #opsec #fail - rave "banter" group puts up video of a good looking young lass in England at a petrol station who ended up with empty baggie that held her #partydrugs stuck to her back as she fills up the car. Registration mark of car in full view.

To be fair some lads *did* point out sharing the video could be problematic, but *no-one* picked up on the fact they've essentially grassed her up for potential #DUI (any cop or bootlicker now has her vehicle number plate)

New legal interpretations suggest that excessive coffee consumption can lead to DUI arrests due to impaired driving. This raises questions about how far laws may stretch concerning driver behavior. What are your thoughts on this potential legal precedent? #DUI #Legislation #Privacy

The US Sun · Drivers risk arrest & losing license for drinking too much COFFEE before getting behind wheel – how high i...By Michael Golson

This whole article is about saliva tests and goggles and apps made by tech bros that the police want to use to be able to lock people up for using a legal plant days/weeks/a month before driving, but these two sections made me laugh so hard I worried about my mental health for a moment.

But for real. There’s no way real cannabis users smoked weed to show cops what it looks like to be high & they didn’t act like characters in the movie Clerks, right? How could you not be a total caricature. Nobody who smokes weed is going to help the cops figure out how to bust people who smoke weed.

But it was me laughing at the last paragraph in the story that made me concerned for my mental health. Where was this energy when the country went to the honor system regarding spreading covid? We can trust people not to maim and kill their friends and neighbors with an invisible airborne virus but we can’t trust people to value their own lives and expensive autos enough to not drive messed up? Umm ok boomer. Seriously WTF.

The new #AI equipped #ANPR #camera #vans using tech developed in #Australia will be deployed by #WestMidlands #Police - they can apparently spot #speeding , seatbelt violations, #mobilephone use and even #DUI ! (probably by monitoring those who are driving erratically and not keeping to correct lanes)

Vans cost £47 000 each (cheaper than I had expected, a plain new van (without any Police equipment is £35k) #RoadSafety #Surveillance #UK

Is this really an "epidemic" of #DUI involving #drugs in #Britain - or just the case that the #Police are fairly effective at selecting their targets when they do conduct roadside stops (perhaps using #ANPR linked with #intelligence data?)

There is often sporadic enforcement and a lack of RPU (roads policing unit) resources as well as stubbornness and psychological #addiction so folk probably get complacent and think they can get away with it
