An earlier version of this article said that Rep #MattGaetz (R-Fla.) was the reimbursement program's top spender for 2023. That analysis was based on data released by the #House as of last week. But additional data The Post reviewed Tuesday showed that Rep #JackBergman (R-Michigan) was reimbursed for more than Gaetz was.
"I'm military. And when you are in the middle of a fight, if the commander goes down on the battlefield, someone steps up to still prosecute the fight," #JackBergman told reporters Fri. 
"I don't want this job. I don't aspire to be in this job, but we're in the middle of a fight right now for more than just a budget," he added, "but I will volunteer to step up to properly relieve until we get 217 votes out of this room.”
