Google Search prioritises ultranationalist outlets more prominently, thereby fueling a global disinformation campaign amid heightened diplomatic tensions.

According to a report published by Techglobal Institute, for instance the search engine giant populates its search with content from Indian media over Bangladeshi media – even when the actual issue in question has taken place in Bangladesh.
In doing so, it casts aside local, original journalism on a story rooted in Bangladesh in favour of an avalanche of divisive coverage from neighbouring India, according to a report published by Techglobal Institute.

The Business Standard · Google Search erases Bangladeshi journalism in favour of Indian media: ReportThe top results of searches on Chinmoy Krishna Das come almost exclusively from Indian outlets, most of which lack local correspondents and rely instead on secondary or social media sources, says a Techglobal Institute report

In recent months, Indian media outlets have embarked on an aggressive misinformation campaign aimed at discrediting the interim government in Bangladesh, which was set up following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s regime on August 5. The narratives being propagated are not only misleading but also reflect the erosion of journalistic integrity in favor of political loyalty, a transformation that has turned much of the Indian media into a “Godi” media or pliant press under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

They even published an article on Reuters.

The whole incident appears to be pre-planned to create communal riots in Bangladesh.

A trainee lawyer was killed and 25 others injured during a clash between followers of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari and law enforcement agencies on the Chattogram court premises on Tuesday over sending Chinmoy to jail in a sedition case.
Saiful Islam Alif, 35, son of Jamal Uddin of Lohagara upazila in Chattogram, was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.

The hospital’s duty doctor Nibedita Ghosh said that the lawyer was stabbed in his neck and head indiscriminately.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner for media Kazi Md Tarek Aziz said that the trainee lawyer was critically injured in the clash on the Chattogram court premises at Laldighi.

It is deeply unfortunate that media outlets, such as @Reuters, are perpetuating narratives that align with Indian propaganda. Contrary to claims by Indian media, the lawyer was not defending Chinmoy Krishna Das. In reality, the lawyer was attacked by followers of Chinmoy Das and later succumbed to the injuries. This misinformation needs to be addressed and corrected.
