The next ARDC Community Data Lab co-design session will be focused on building tools for HASS research using 'Public Interest Documents' – this includes things like Hansard and other government documents. It's run next week on 25 Feb. I think it's important to get more historians involved, so sign up now to help shape the project. eventbrite.com/e/ardc-communit #researchInfrastructure #histodons #ozHist @histodons

EventbriteARDC Community Data Lab Co-design Workshop: Public Interest DocumentsJoin us to co-design how we can make public interest documents more accessible for research

Last week's grant freeze fiasco underscores the need for diversified revenue and community-owned solutions.

Our latest blog post examines the $16.5M+ in federal grants awarded to open infrastructure projects over the past 5 years, highlighting the precariousness of the space right now.

Recently there were some invite-only discussions about National Digital Research Infrastructure, including one on #HASS & #GLAM. The questions and summary from the HASS/GLAM discussions are here: education.gov.au/national-rese (h/t @Infoventurer)

Most of it's pretty obvious, but I'm encouraged by the concluding para: "Overall, rather than a single, all encompassing facility, the focus should be on developing an interconnected ecology of systems and tools, with emphasis on collaboration, accessibility, and adaptability to various research needs." So glad we're finally moving away from the idea of a single platform...

A researcher got in touch yesterday asking about saving digitised periodicals in #Trove as PDFs. All the various bits you need for this are in the #TroveDataGuide, but I hadn't actually pulled them together as a notebook. I thought it might be useful to others, so I've now created a #GLAMWorkbench notebook that helps you download all the issues of a digitised periodical as PDFs: glam-workbench.net/trove-journ Enjoy! #GLAM #histodons #digitalHumanities @histodons #researchInfrastructure

Yay! The ARDC's #BinderHub service is live! Researchers in Australian universities can now spin up #Jupyter repositories in locally-based virtual machines. ardc.edu.au/services/ardc-nect 🎉

I'll be adding buttons & links from the #GLAMWorkbench to use the ARDC Binder service – just waiting for a problem with Trove to be fixed by the NLA. #researchInfrastructure
