A very good article on awful Google AI search results and how Google have ruined their own reputation by wrecking their workforce, by @pluralistic. A quote:

But all that is true only if Google AI Overviews are good. And they are very, very bad.'

Don't use Google for search.

You know how these days, search engines put garbage LLM summaries above results - and then prioritize links to garbage LLM pages above real sites in the results links?

Can we call those "top of the slops"?

Sad, but I think the article exactly hits the point: in the future you have to know that there is a human on the other end - which is the oldest internet joke and I don’t see how that’s possible. No more reading random websites without investigating the history, no more posts in social networks without vetting the authors biography and cross referencing their work, no more forum posts in search of real experience when you try to solve a problem… I guess the internet as we know it is over. We had a good run.
