This is so deeply disappointing and backwards. The #Texas House had a much more reasonable version which regulated products, but they caved (yet again) to threats from the Senate and Dan Patrick.
I'll have a story next week about the devastating impacts this will have on Texans.

My final assignment for my Drugs, Society and Crime subject is to write an essay comparing Australia's drug policies to that of another country.
I'm (obviously) going to write about Portugal, where drugs are decriminalised as a part of a wider health-led framework around dealing with drug use.
What I want to write about is Philippines and Rodrigo Duturte's War on Drugs, especially in light of this... because that essay promises to be a wild fucking ride to write!
yesterday Pam Bondi said Trump had saved 1/3rd of the US population from death by #fentanyl overdose.
today she upped it to over 75% of the american population: she now says 258 million lives were saved by Trump in just 100 days.
Attorney General Pam Blondie is claiming to have saved no less than a third of the American population from death by #fentanyl overdose.

Worth noting that Austin City Council has ordered our police to deprioritize cannabis arrests, a policy which I don't believe would be directly affected by this court decision overturning the decriminalization ordinance.

Against this backdrop, Texans took a central role in the attempt to balance punishment with treatment for the growing percentage of the U.S. population addicted to drugs. https://www.texasobserver.org/inside-fort-worths-narcotic-farm-experiment/

These comics from the Real Cost of Prisons Project were a real eye-opener for me about the deep perversion of the American "judicial" system
