#Beekeeping #tip of the day: switched to #Castile #soap for washing my hair, have had great lack of reaction from bees. (sometimes they got annoyed at the floral scents the random-shampoo-on-sale that I was using). They also particularly hate some of the strong scents my son has on soap bars (he has not switched yet, though...)

Tried the commercial #castile #soap before making my own, using it as #shampoo. No scent is a HUGE positive (at least, as a beekeeper). Not that anyone else is smelling my hair ever anyway. Ha ha. Pretty much zero scent I can detect, and I can track people's scent trails while walking around in public. You could easily custom scent this stuff, too.

#OnThisDay in #history - in 1481, Juana de la Cruz Vázquez Gutiérrez was born in #Castile #Spain - as a young woman, she was reportedly beautiful & her father found a suitor for her to wed. She dressed as a man & ran to the Beaterio de Santa María de la Cruz, where she took her vows & became a nun. She couldn't speak for 6 months, & after, began to preach (and got permission from the Pope to do so). She was heard by the Emperor himself.
#OTD in 1534, Juana died, aged 53.

#OnThisDay in #history - in 1415 Eleanor of #Castile, Queen of #Navarre, died around age 52. She hated living in Navarre (forced to marry and leave home around age 12) and after 13 years there moved back to Valladolid. She was forced by her nephew (then king of Castile) to return to Navarre in 1395, and had her coronation as queen in 1403. Afterwards, she seems to have made her peace with Navarre and served as regent in her husband's absences.

#JohnOfGaunt & his 2nd wife Costanza (Constance) gave up her claim to the throne of #Castile when their daughter Catherine married the heir to King Juan. She was 15; her husband Enrique was 9. Two years later the king died after falling from his horse & she became Queen Catalina, acting as regent during the minority of Enrique. When Enrique died leaving a 1yr-old heir, she was regent for their son. 🧵 6/
