This is more my mind of scenery to run in. Back home in Twente again. Borderline run in Springendal (valley of natural wells) and 'dal van de Mosbeek' (Mossbrook valley). Took a few tracks into Germany, no border control in the woods.
I set the target in time-on-feet today because my calves were a bit stiff and somewhat painful. So 2:30h it was.
And what an adventure Snowdonia Ultra was.
I know it would be a tough race but didn't expect it to be this brutal.
After the 2th climb of mount Snowden all the juice in my legs was gone and I wasn't able to make the cutoff time for aid station #2.
Buddy Bas had to throw the towel a little after aid station #2.
But my wife still found us "medal worthy" so we got one from here .

Today was a tourist day for us at Mount Snowden. Going up with the old mountain train was quite an experience.

Taper week and only 4 days left for UTS50. The HRrest graph shows a nice downward trend during the last months with an absolute low of HRr 40 this morning. The body is ready to perform!
Did a short ride on the bike trainer today to save the legs.

Visiting mother in law this weekend and while everybody is still asleep I did an easy morning run.
Beautiful sunny morning weather and I did see a lot of wildlife on the Frisian countryside.
Unfortunately I did not bring my camera.

In cycling you do have a training focus area called "Sweetspot". It sits just below (80-90%) your Functional Threshold Power(FTP) .
It looks like the term Sweetspot is not being used in running so I am introducing it today

These last 2 weeks are taper weeks and the trainingload decrease has already started.
I am feeling ready and can't wait to get started .

I finally managed to fix the issue of wrong pace and distance on my Garmin Fenix 7 watch.
It turned out that my Garmin HRM-Pro heart rate can be configured to determine pace and distance based on cadence.
After switching off that option the GPS from the watch was being used again and all was fine.

After 2 exhausting days at work this was more of a character building session than a run training. But since running is a mental sport I count it as successful.
Oh, and it rained...
The easy runs are getting faster.
I see it as increasing fitness towards ISU50.
Today back to work after a productive long Easter weekend where we painted the outside house.
Upcoming weekend the longest run from the training plan (5hrs).
After that only 2 weeks taper left to the race .

Easter training at the running club. We did a team challenge (ladder, through a hoop, skipping, over obstacles, through the sandpit and under a stick (at 1.50 m), but all the time holding a spoon with an egg on it . Dropping the egg meant 2 burpees for the whole team.
After that it was 6x800m at 5.00 /km, 30 secs of rest in between.
Time well spend on Easter weekend. Painted the outside house and did even had some time left for a workout.
