This next election in Canada is pretty simple:
You can vote conservative, or you can vote Canadian.
@Rural_Canadian
Because Canadians are such a diverse lot, we have a multi-party democracy, allowing Canadians to vote for what we want.
The important part is to refrain from voting "strategically" for what somebody else wants and instead #VoteYourValues.
Conservative voters can vote Libertarian, People's Party or Liberal
Centrist voters can vote #BlocQuebecois
Progressive voters can vote Green or NDP
#Vote4whatUwant & help elect a vibrant minority government.

I hear you, and that is a good thing.
Sure, we have multiple parties.
...but we have a FPTP system in which that diversity is not going to be reflected or represented in any real way after the count.
@Rural_Canadian
Except it doesn't have to be that way.
Brian Mulroney's Conservatives won Canada's last real majority with 50.3% of the vote.
At this point Liberal/Conservatives can barely manage faux majoritys without so-called "strategic voting."
The last faux majority was the 39.47% that elected the 2015 Trudeau government. Followed by 33.12% (2019), 32.62% (2021) minorities.
Prieviously it was the 39.62% Harper majority, preceded by 37.65% (2008), 36.27% (2006) minorities.
@Rural_Canadian
If we stop gifting them power far beyond what they can earn by voting against our own interests, but instead vote for what we want, we'll get the minority governments we deserve.
Minority government is as close to real democracy as we can get without #ProportionalRepresentation.
If nothing else, they'll have to start listening to the Canadian people, not just the billionaires.
@laurelrusswurm @gemelliz
I respect that opinion, however:
I spent decades of my life voting for what I wanted and it NEVER culminated in giving any real power or authority to the party I chose to support.
In this next federal election, my riding will probably go conservative again as it has for decades.... I've voted green here, I've voted ndp one time... and it did not make a lick of difference to the cons power and authority here at all.
I might as well have spoiled my ballot.
@laurelrusswurm @gemelliz
In my riding, I will be voting for whomever has the best chance of defeating the cons... and if that party wins, THEN I will not stop the pressure to effect the changes that I want. Participation in the process does not end after an election.. it's just the beginning.
