News and tobacco kiosk in Sofia, Bulgaria, early 1970. Taken with my 1 with (not Plus) film; no meter (I used the metering hints inside film boxes in those days, essentially Sunny 16).

I worked in Sofia for 4 months at that time, so plenty of time to get to know the communist world a little. The adventures there are described in a series of blog posts starting at unsustainableideas.wordpress.c .

Hanging basket window flowers in the sun.

Portrait format black and white photo shows a shuttered window in a brick wall almost obscured by a large flower basket hanging from just above. There is a small gable end immediately above, with some interesting decorative detail, looks like tiles with small circles. Above that, a tiled roof. The hanging basket is casting a strong shadow down and to the left, in the afternoon sun.

@tomnorthfilm Thanks Tom. I've dumped my remaining FX39 and decided I'm going all-in on HC-110 until I use up my 2018 bottle, wondering if I should just stick with dilution E everywhere! FP4 times could get a bit long though...

@carusb Sounds like a good plan. I like dilutions/film combos that give me development times in the 8-12 minute range. I like dilution B for 9 min with FP4 at box. With Foma 200 at box I use dilution H for 9 min. The only combo I can think of that I regularly use that falls outside those parameters is FP4 at box in FX39II for 6 min with the 1+9 dilution. That doesn’t count when I push films. Some of those time get more excessive.
