Castle in the sun. This is a roll of expired #AgfaVista 200 from my #Olympus #mju2 pocket camera. A roll does often take quit a long time, given I'm mostly interested in black and white in cameras where I have more control, so most images on this roll are from last autumn!
Developed and scanned by Filmdev.
Autumn beech tree colour. This area is right beside the main road into Coventry, a 2-mile long avenue with woodland strip each side. A taxi-driver once told me an American passenger had labelled this road a "million dollar ride to a ten cent city"! Ouch.

Stile in the sun. (I'm never sure how much the concept of a stile needs explaining to folk who don't have ancient footpath rights of way, but I guess it's self-explanatory!) The field it leads into is known locally as "Parliament Piece", see https://www.khas.co.uk/archives-parliament-piece-kenilworth-metal-detector-survey/.

News and tobacco kiosk in Sofia, Bulgaria, early 1970. Taken with my #Werra 1 with #IlfordFP4 (not Plus) film; no meter (I used the metering hints inside film boxes in those days, essentially Sunny 16).
I worked in Sofia for 4 months at that time, so plenty of time to get to know the communist world a little. The adventures there are described in a series of blog posts starting at https://unsustainableideas.wordpress.com/2020/07/08/my-life-in-computers-5a-icl-system-4-and-bulgaria/ .

@carusb Beautiful tonalities. The grain rendered nicely in dilution E.
@tomnorthfilm Thanks Tom. I've dumped my remaining FX39 and decided I'm going all-in on HC-110 until I use up my 2018 bottle, wondering if I should just stick with dilution E everywhere! FP4 times could get a bit long though...
@carusb Sounds like a good plan. I like dilutions/film combos that give me development times in the 8-12 minute range. I like dilution B for 9 min with FP4 at box. With Foma 200 at box I use dilution H for 9 min. The only combo I can think of that I regularly use that falls outside those parameters is FP4 at box in FX39II for 6 min with the 1+9 dilution. That doesn’t count when I push films. Some of those time get more excessive.
@carusb love this!
@35millimetre Thanks Charlie. Almost didn't post, then decided to see if a slightly tighter crop worked better. It did!
I love this sort of stuff, and take loads, but the challenge is turning it into an actual photo rather than a record shot... [EDIT: Aaaargh I used the S word and can't think of a better way to word it!]
@carusb I did think it looked like the cover of an album! Has a slightly abstract feel as well though, I love the squares all over the wall. A success!
@carusb What are your thoughts on XX in HC110e? What time did you use?
@tomnorthfilm Really enjoying XX. Last couple of years I used a 2 rolls of Cinestill BWXX, one lab-devved in IlfoTec DD, the other I did in FX-39 II. Both good. This REFLX roll was in HC-110 E, & a 2nd one lab-devved in Tri-X but I don't have that film back yet. The time I wrote on my dev spreadsheet for XX at 200 in E was 9 min 36 seconds (it says "Calculated" beside it), but I do remember thinking that was wrong and hand-writing a shorter time on the printed sheet, at home (but we're not!)
@tomnorthfilm Just reviewed this whole roll, and yes, I really like XX at EI 200 in HC-110 dilution E! (Some of then photos, not so much, but that's how it goes...)
@tomnorthfilm Although we're not yet home, I was time-wasting on my phone while waiting for ThingsTo Happen, and checked the MDC app. It gives a time for Cinestill BWXX in HC-110 1+47 at 20C as 8 minutes, which I'm pretty sure is used as my base for the REFLX DoubleX (less 15% for the Rondinax).
@carusb I did order up a bulk roll of Double-X from Ultrafine for my next bulk loading session. It is more expensive than Foma 200, but not outrageously so. It is in line with the HP5 bulk price.
