Hi CBR, south East NSW folk - I have a Datsun Stanza 1981 that has a shot gearbox and rear diff, an L16 in it and a tiny bit of body rust - I was hoping for it to be a project car, but I no longer have that luxury.
Anyone want it?
The plan was to strip it out, stitch weld it and put an SR20 and gearbox in it from a 200sx and a diff from a r31 Skyline in it to make it a sideways car.

Nissan should bring back the “Datsun" brand. Focus on affordable, yet endearing, cars. Potential 1st line-up:

• Z ($25K–$35K, 2-seater roadster)
The "halo" car. Build it extremely simple. No luxury. Nail the looks and fun.

• Cube ($18K–$25K, 5-seater hatchback)
Embrace the box. Pair the utility of the Scion xB with the sharp, modern looks of Honda’s Urban EV concept.

• D21 ($18K–$25K, 2 or 5-seater compact pickup)
Dead simple, reliable pickup that's easy to park/drive.

It’s back to Nissan today with the lovely Datsun 240Z. This followed a similar recipe to the Triumph GT6 and fixed-head Jaguar E-Type of wrapping a strong straight six in a sleek and sporty fastback coupé body. It fell somewhere between the two British cars in terms of size. Most Japanese cars of the early seventies sold to western buyers on reliability and value rather than looks or performance but the 240Z had it all. Today, after a couple of lengthy diversions, we’re back on the subject of Nissan. A few weeks ago, I featured the Datsun Type 14, said to have been inspired by the British Austin Seven. As Nissan sought to re-establish itself as a car-maker in the 1950s, it turned to officially-licensed Austin designs, initially the A40 Somerset, which it assembled from CKD (completely knocked down) kits. After yesterday’s British-made Suzuki Swace, today we are going back to a far earlier connection between the British and Japanese motor industries with this 1935 Datsun Type 14. The design was said to have been inspired by the British Austin Seven, and this example was brought to the UK by a curious Herbert Austin. Later British car bosses were rather less attentive to the competitive challenge from Japan - to their cost. Pic #NationalMotorMuseum #Datsun #Nissan #WeirdCarMastodon #davidsdailycar
