Do you believe in #Doppelgänger⁣s?

The idea that almost every person has one or more persons who look almost identical?

I am sceptical. I think, some people are extremely similar, but also that most faces are pretty unique.

I just read the excellent novel "The Likeness" by fabulous Irish author Tana French, where a young detective investigates a murder by pretending to be surviving victim who looked strikingly like her.

For stories, doubles are a wonderful subject, but are they real?

I recently read #NaomiKlein's #Doppelganger. She makes this point really well. My take on her take is that the pandemic accelerated this. For decades the consumerist message had been that the individual is king and that social frameworks are an unwarranted imposition on this "freedom". Recommended by @pluralistic, I finally read #Doppelganger by #NaomiKlein and recommend it to everyone.

A few books have changed how I see the world and interpret our timeline (Popper: #OpenSocietyAndItsEnemies, Herman/Chomsky: #ManufacturingConsent). This is such a book. It contextualises so much as the unchanging pattern of oligarchic propaganda and settler colonialism. It suggests that COVID's biggest legacy may be the revulsion shown by our me-first culture to any shared social action.
