"It’s understandable that in uncertain times we want someone to cheer for & it's very normal to want to look to someone like new Prime Minister #MarkCarney as a hero who understands finance, speaks the language of power & has as strong an understanding on #ClimateChange as you could ever hope for."

"There's a really novel & interesting effort by cities, states & other jurisdictions to bring lawsuits against the #OilAndGas industry premised on this argument that #OilAndGas deliberately lied to the public about #ClimateChange & this was framed as a sort of a form of consumer fraud."

"With #RussiaUkraine a lot of #OilAndGas companies & their advocacy groups saw a huge opportunity to shift the entire conversation around climate & energy instead of net zero & winding down production the conversation was all about energy security, supplying Europe & taking on foreign dictator."

"There's a cyclical pattern to public concern about #ClimateChange but there's always a base level of anxiety and concern. At times that concern really pierces through so political leaders can't ignore it. 2018-19 was one of those moments but first #Covid then #RussiaUkraine swung the pendulum back"

"These 90s talking points directly contradicted the company's own research into #CarbonPricing as a climate solution & showed how advanced the oil industry was, how it it discovered this solution they thought could really work to fix the problem & then intentionally set out to sabotage that."

podcastics.com/episode/377291/

"Executives at #Imperial and #Exxon were instructed how to talk about a #CarbonPrice & how to frame it in the worst possible light, urging them to describe it as something that would destroy the economy & wouldn't even fix climate change, contradicting their OWN research into climate solutions."

podcastics.com/episode/377291/

"While most of the world barely knew #ClimateChange was even a thing #ImperialOil was so advanced in its understanding it was actually running models on solutions, calculating how much a #CarbonPrice could specifically hurt #OilAndGas profits in Alberta & Canada and they even put a number on it"

podcastics.com/episode/377291/

"This document from the early 90s by #ImperialOil lays out in pretty specific detail what it would take to fix #ClimateChange in Canada & what would be effective: a national #CarbonPrice could stabilize greenhouse gas emissions across the entire country without a big hit to the economy."

Seeing a recent post about H2Clipper's autonomous drone swarm, I was fascinated by their idea of using airships to transport generated H2.

I've long been enamoured with their efforts to bring airships back . The idea of lighter than air, heavy lift vessels floating around at modest speeds, with comparatively tiny emissions is inspirational.

This post explores the drone swarm idea in the context of things that we should expect to see soon:

"Prominent #OilAndGas executives realized early on that the public's anxiety specifically about environmental issues could provide the momentum for politicians to pass laws that would restrict the industry profits so they created a very effective PR strategy to ensure that that would never happen."
