"#Dembecki 's work reveals the deep connections between #BigOil, political power & #Disinformation, especially in countries like Canada where fossil fuel expansion is still framed as a “nation-building” project when all the science and the stakes say otherwise."

"#India is stepping up the pace of the energy transition"

"The Indian government has announced that non-fossil energy sources now account for 50 per cent of installed power generation capacity. This means that the country will reach a target of the Paris Climate Agreement earlier."

"India, the world's most populous country, is the third largest greenhouse gas emitter in the world, after #China and the #US."

"Another milestone in the energy transition has been reached - five years earlier than the Paris Climate Agreement stipulates."

"Of the almost 485 gigawatts of electricity generation capacity currently installed in the country, a good 243 gigawatts were attributable to non-fossil energy sources in June 2025. The largest share of this, namely around 185 gigawatts, comes from energy sources such as solar or wind. The rest are hydropower projects (49 gigawatts) and nuclear energy (8.8 gigawatts)."

"Dembecki's an investigative journalist & author of #Petroleum Papers, a powerful exposé on how #BigOil knew for decades about the catastrophic consequences of #FossilFuels & worked tirelessly to obscure the truth, revealing deep connections between industry political power & #Climate disinformation."

"Scratch below the surface a bit, you'll find that a lot of people really don't like a few rich individuals making as much money as possible at the expense of all of us being able to have a healthy environment & climate & well-paying, long term, sustainable jobs that can support our families."

Back when I was doing the 'This Week in Energy' podcast some fifteen years ago, it seems like I vaguely remember gas flaring was going to be phased out. Welp, I guess not or maybe it's back? This image alone shows seven gas flares. I saw 30-40 in this one area of Northeast Montana. I could feel the heat from this flare while making the photo from across the road! We can be such an ignorant species...

@Slashgear @tools-Slashgear The solution is actually simple:

1. drain the gas and oil. Fold the handle and place the mower into the trunk of your car.

2. Drive to the nearest town disposal facility and leave the mower there.

3. Then, proceed to the nearest local, family-owned garden center or hardware store and purchase one of the new and excellent battery powered mowers.

The mower will now start first time, every time.

#EnergyTransition - 91% of New Renewable Projects Now Cheaper Than Fossil Fuels Alternatives - "Renewables maintain their cost leadership in global power markets, IRENA’s new report on Renewable Power Generation Costs in 2024 confirms. The report confirms that renewables maintained their price advantage over fossil fuels, with cost declines driven by technological innovation, competitive supply chains, and economies of scale." - IRENA - International Renewable Energy Agency irena.org/News/pressreleases/2

The Environmental Protection Agency said on Friday that it would eliminate its scientific research arm and begin firing hundreds of chemists, biologists, toxicologists and other scientists, after denying for months that it intended to do so.
