Last watch of Mystery Train, I noticed that the suitcase said 「カール・リーパーキンス (Carl Perkins) is best」 This time I noticed the bottom half of the suitcase I couldn't read before. It says (sideways kanji) 「恵流比寿命 is king」You can already guess this means "Elvis" but it is written like the god Ebisu (惠比寿) with an added "ru" (流) and the name ender "-mikoto" (命), so it's "Lord Elvis". #japanese #movies #mysterytrain #jimjarmusch #rocknroll

People have unacknowledged brain damage from #covid. Like... Most people it seems. They seem to know not what they do (even when they're paid $150K+ a year to know it), and seemingly can't be reasoned with.

It is... the zombie apocalypse we've been fever-dreaming about over the last century.

When I'm the only one masking in a grocery store, hospital, or packed theatre (my work), I like to pretend I'm in a #JimJarmusch movie.

Thinking about Jim Jarmusch's Paterson today. From my perspective it's among the best movies of the past ten years. Features a memorable and subdued performance by the great Adam Driver. (And an excellent soundtrack courtesy of SQÜRL.) This movie reinvigorated my deep affection of poetry and led me on a path of discovery of poets William Carlos Williams, Charles Bukowski, and Miriam Mandel. #Paterson #JimJarmusch #AdamDriver #Poetry #Movies
