Installing and exploring a new operating system (FreeBSD) has led me to revisit an old and friendly window manager: Openbox
Its an excellent foundation for crafting a lightweight and delightful FreeBSD desktop just the way I like it!

sixel in xterm or the kitty protocol in kitty, I've decided to stick with good old #Xterm . Also on my #FreeBSD daily driver I'm used to such luxuries as icons in the terminal like font awesome or nerd fonts but even though I could have used alacritty or kitty to achieve this I have decided to for go them. After all what do they do other make it look pretty ? I don't get any other functionality from them and they can easily be replaced with text. You might have noticed too that although I'm a #Wayland chic on my #ThinkPad I've decided to be all nostalgic and stick with Xorg on OpenBSD. I haven't yet settled on a window manager be it tiling or stacking but #HerbstluftWM and #Openbox are in my sights although I'm still using the default #Fvwm right now. I have my Qutebrowser setup and aerc for my email. Printing via cups and xsane for scanning. Looking into nsxiv for an image viewer as the OpenBSD port of imv is well out of date. Me falta terminar mi tema de iconos y un par de detalles, pero en mi imparcial opinión está quedando bastante bien.
@justine I've used (& currently use) both #XFCE & #OpenBox on #OpenBSD under #Xorg for years (as long as I can remember). For more than 5 years, closer to 10.
Whether I use OpenBox or XFCE on a given day depends entirely on my mood. I've used OpenBox the longest of any WM, and I only recently started using XFCE over the past few years.
OpenBox is still my first choice though. For its simplicity

#FreeBSD has breathed new life into this ancient #laptop. Switched from #twm to #openbox and surfing the #web with #elinks.
Admittedly I did cheat and replace the 5,400 RPM hard drive with a 1TB SSD. I'm not masochistic enough for that, particularly when I had something exponentially better on hand. 
The second slice of pie always plates better than the first.
The top crust was pleasantly flaky, with a lovely colour, and the “Turkey and Fixins” filling held its shape after I sliced up the pie. Savoury, hearty, and decidedly different as frozen meat pies go, but I’d wait until I saw it on sale to buy it again. #Toronto #ChefSurprise #OpenBox
