Last fall I began collecting seeds from our restored prairie along the local trails/parks. A favorites natives is prairie coneflower (likely Ratibida pinnata, likely 
seed pods). I've seeded some out back. Got some nice clusters but you'll have to wait to see the flowers 
...There'll be crocuses to bring to school tomorrow.

My daffodils are fading. This variety keeps its

Love daffodils in black/white b/c all the yellows look which draws attention to that marvelous 3-D shape/texture.
Spent the last 2 wks clearing/planting/seeding the property periphery. I've a big patch of volunteer native common violets that border one section. Aren't they lovely?
Gonna try adding some violets to the garden proper this spring. Likely try some baskets too .
Ladies and gentlemen, the cocksure robin.

I've missed TONS of our spring photography-wise. It's actually been a nice break from what occasionally feels like an obligation.
Open a window.
Go outside.
Smell the fresh air.
Listen to the birds.
Be in a moment.
Just one.
Watch a chickadee flit & pause before what's next.
The Prunus and Pyrus are starting bud/bloom like this one from last week. An ID app suggests it's a Nanking cherry (Prunus tomentosa).
Gray squirrel inhabiting natural environs & flaunting that fluffy tail & those pink toe beans.
Surprisingly (even to me), this is my 1st squirrel photo of the yr. Guess I've just been chatting them up every time I see them rather than photographing them 
. Kinda good weird, no?
I'm finding flowering quince (like these buds from this past Saturday) is easier to ID this yr compared to the last few despite the fact that there are few flowers so far.
There's nothing quite like that shade of reddish-peach.
Taken a lot of photos of the same subjects over the yrs. When I don't see/photograph a particular subject one yr, I miss it 
. Next yr I get anxious about it & make specific plans to seek it out & enjoy its company again like these Rhododendrons next to the local public library.
