This was the view of Lake Superior I had growing up. Standing atop the bank that leads down to the beach, I would gaze through these same trees. The lake, the trees, the woods, the scents, and the sounds... they form the very essence of my soul.

Over 40 years ago, at this very spot, I knew I wanted to be a photographer. I’d bicycle to Sunset Point at Presque Isle in Marquette, Michigan, with my Kodak 110 Instamatic to capture my first sunset photos. Years later, I took this shot with my first digital DSLR—different camera, but the same incredible view.
