It really boils me when people doing these Greek myth movies are using the wrong attires (800 years off target!). The new pic released from Chris Nolan's #Odyssey ( https://variety.com/2025/film/news/the-odyssey-matt-damon-odysseus-christopher-nolan-1236311018/ ) shows an attire from the Classical period, and not from the #Mycenaean times. Here's how they really looked at the time instead.

Until the 18th century, the #trojan #war & its city described by #Homer was rejected as literary fancy.
But when hobby #archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann began digging in 1870 in Hisarlık, Turkey, he discovered not one but 9 different cities spanning 3600 years.
One of them is believed (but not confirmed) to be Troy.
Our newest #digital #exhibition explores the tale of #Troy through the analysis of a thirteenth-century retelling by author Guido delle Colonne, titled Historia Destructionis Troiae (The #History of Troy's Destruction). As part of her internship at our Special Collections department, student Chiara Tuccella began her research by studying the copy of the Historia held in our library. The incunabulum dates back to 1485. So what's the story?
