Patriarchy is always about Child Brides.

They accuse us Queers of all manner of evil towards children, but it is them who wish to rape children into life long servitude.

It's happening in America too, this isn't 'a Muslim thing', it's a 'Religion thing'

I will wail on any culture that literally fucks kids, I don't care.

Nearly 300,000 children as young as 10 were legally married in the U.S. between 2000 and 2018—mostly girls who were wed to adult men

And what kind of legislators are comfortable with that on the books? Don't forget to #Vote

As reprehensible as the concept of child marriage is, there is another angle to it, and that is human life expectancy.

From 1500s-1800s, life expectancy throughout Europe was between 30-40 yrs and early marriage could be rationalized.

Now it's twice that, but the #reactionary #GOP wants to take us back in time.

"... while 186 of 193 countries have ratified the CEDAW treaty, the USA shamefully remains as one of only seven countries that has to date refused to ratify it. We join Iran, Sudan, Somalia, Nauru, Palau, & Tonga on this indefensible list. Therefore, CEDAW does not apply in the US. Meanwhile, no Federal legislation exists to ban #ChildMarriage in the US either." qasimrashid.substack.com/p/ame

Way to go, Virginia!

Only 38 more states to go (total, US)

Fact: “A minor being allowed to marry doesn't necessarily mean they can file for divorce. In some states, you have to be 18 or have an adult file on your behalf.”
