And yes, whoever uses #discord for #documentation and #versioning instead of a goddam #git [doesn't have to be @github / #GitHub or @gitlab / #GitLab or @Codeberg / #Codeberg or even @gitea / #Gitea - just use any git
and write down your documentation in a useable format like #Markdown or goddamn ASCII plain text FFS] should be banned for life from #coding, working in #IT or contribute to #FLOSS.
#AI is a tool. I had a log message as a huge JSON string mangled in one line with no spaces. I wanted to quickly skim through it with my screen reader line by line (because if going by word, screen reader stops at punctuation which is desirable in most cases, but not in this one, plus it's still super inconvenient). I told #GitHub #Copilot to pretty-print the JSON and convert timestamps into UTC dates. Three seconds of time, huge boost for me.
Code review in the age of AI: Why developers will always own the merge button.
from now on, if someone asks me to interact with source code on GitHub, i am simply going to say "sorry, i cannot, GitHub does not allow IPv6 access”.
i've run into this too many times to make working around it my problem. now it's someone else's problem.
Oh, joy, every 'next' link is broken in #GitHub.
I created WebTimer, a minimalist countdown timer and stopwatch (complete with lap tracking), entirely in the browser. Built by writing ChatGPT prompts that instruct Gemini CLI to generate all the code—no dependencies or install steps!

I'm watching #Bitchat rather closely on #Github and there's basically two kinds of activity on the Issues
1) people who seem to Have Clue(tm) and can point out and suggest solutions for the real-world issues this app will face, and write code
2) #JackDorsey fan bois who are hard in love with anything Dorsey says, and would happily buy anything he has to offer
As one footnote, Dorsey himself has acknowledge that the short range of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) networks will pretty quickly require some sort of relay/bridge implementation to transmit from mesh-to-mesh across any substantive distance
"While bitchat is designed to operate without internet infrastructure, there are scenarios where selective network bridging could enhance its capabilities without compromising its core principles. The Nostr protocol presents a particularly interesting integration opportunity."
No specifics as to who/what entity would control these Nostr relays
So, yeah...

»Over 600 Laravel Apps Exposed to Remote Code Execution Due to Leaked APP_KEYs on GitHub:
Cybersecurity researchers have discovered a serious security issue that allows leaked Laravel APP_KEY's to be weaponized to gain remote code execution capabilities on hundreds of applications.«
Never store your access keys in Git, especially not in the code – do programmers need to be taught this?!??

Wild. This scanner looks for force pushes and shit for mistakenly referenced secrets.

Haven't played with it but ooo.
Hey #FOSS friends!
I just got into biking again as an adult, and I’m loving it!
Now I’m on the hunt for a simple open source app to track how far I ride. Bonus points if it’s on GitHub, if not, at least F-Droid works. If there’s nothing bike-specific, I’m cool with any travel or hiking tracker too.
I use a Pixel 9a with GrapheneOS.
Any recs? Drop ’em here!
Currently checking out all the recommendations, before I head out riding with a few of them, thanks again!
