@randahl no law will stop #diaperdon from going against a #court order, he has decided he is above the law, we already seen this in the deportation case. In a working #democracy he would be #impeached but #gop has decided to give the president free hands to do any type of atrocities.

Let see he will try to prevent the midterms or his powers will be taken from him.

The #GOP packed the #SCotUS with his appointees who then ruled he's #AboveTheLaw.

That was the #Republican long game. They only needed to fill 5 seats (they have 6). They (arguably) can't be removed, and enjoy lifetime appointments. And just look how much damage they've done in just a short time:

They abolished the 1965 #CivilRights Act.

Overturned #Roe.

And declared the #Potus is Above the Law & can't be #impeached.

If a sitting Potus can't be #impeached for ANY reason (including violating the #Constitution), what's to stop #OrangeHitler from dumping #Vance (before Vance "25th's" him) and appoint NON-citizen #Musk to the Vice Presidency?

After months of false claims of #election #fraud, #Trump incited a crowd of supporters to storm the #Capitol to "stop the steal", disrupting certification of the 2020 #Presidential election.

Five died, & 140+ were injured. He was #impeached for #incitement of #insurrection, but narrowly avoided #conviction.

Now perhaps the most important case in American history may never get to a #jury & the American public will never get a chance to learn about this #evidence & a jury’s judgment of this evidence before they consider returning #Trump to office.

There’s a ton of blame to go around for this situation, beginning w/then–Senate Majority Ldr #MitchMcConnell’s refusal to support Trump’s #conviction in the #Senate after the #House #impeached him.

Eventually, the Framers of the #Constitution arrived at the system we have today. To preserve #independence, #FederalJudges are nominated by #POTUS but must be approved by #Senate. #Congress sets #judicial #salaries, which cannot be reduced. Judges have lifetime tenure, so they don’t fear that they will be removed for any particular decision. They can be impeached by Congress for #misconduct, but this is rare—only 15 federal #judges have been #impeached since 1789, all but 5 of them before 1937.

8 yrs later, all of those characteristics remain true, but #Trump is now also a twice #impeached fmr president; a #court-adjudicated #SexualAbuser who, acc/to the trial, in the common parlance #raped a woman; would-be #autocrat who tried to overturn an #election he lost; &…a #convicted #felon.

And yet, there was not even the whisper of open dissent this wk, w/speakers & delegates both instead attacking the police, prosecutors & judges involved in the #criminal & #civil cases against their ldr.

During his first term, #Trump was #impeached after refusing to spend money for #Ukraine approved by #Congress, as he pushed Ukrainian President Volodymyr #Zelensky to provide incriminating evidence about the #Biden family. At the time, Trump’s aides defended his actions as #legal but largely did not dispute that the president is bound to adhere to #BudgetaryLaw.

Win or lose, #Congress needs to make sure the T**** #ClassifiedDocs case goes forward.

If he wins but is then convicted, he must be #impeached.

If he loses, we can't simply drop the case just because HE personally is no longer a threat (he'll ALWAYS be a threat.) Too big an issue and a threat to national security.

#Trump also contends that he can’t be prosecuted because he was not #impeached (irrelevant & unrelated case) & convicted by #Congress for the allegations now raised by #SpecialCounsel #JackSmith. Congress, however, was unaware of his document trove for about a year after he left office.

In another motion, Trump says that under federal #law he had total discretion to label the #classified records as “personal,” removing them from the govt’s possession & making them his own.

When Pearce addressed the court on behalf of the #SpecialCounsel’s office, he seized on Judge Pan’s example. Pearce said it was a terrifying prospect that a #president could use the #military to #murder a rival & then escape #criminal #liability by simply resigning before he could be #impeached.
