Fire and light? (Crackley Wood...)

Colour photo, mostly orange streaks, darker at the bottom and light at the top, it might almost be fire but instead it's the trees of Crackley Wood taken on reversed film by moving the camera.

Castle in the sun. This is a roll of expired 200 from my pocket camera. A roll does often take quit a long time, given I'm mostly interested in black and white in cameras where I have more control, so most images on this roll are from last autumn!

Autumn beech tree colour. This area is right beside the main road into Coventry, a 2-mile long avenue with woodland strip each side. A taxi-driver once told me an American passenger had labelled this road a "million dollar ride to a ten cent city"! Ouch.

Stile in the sun. (I'm never sure how much the concept of a stile needs explaining to folk who don't have ancient footpath rights of way, but I guess it's self-explanatory!) The field it leads into is known locally as "Parliament Piece", see khas.co.uk/archives-parliament.

Three cars in the Alvis yard. The Coventry factory stopped production in 1967, but since 1968 the Red Triangle company has been maintaining and now re-manufacturing Alvis cars in Kenilworth!

News and tobacco kiosk in Sofia, Bulgaria, early 1970. Taken with my 1 with (not Plus) film; no meter (I used the metering hints inside film boxes in those days, essentially Sunny 16).

I worked in Sofia for 4 months at that time, so plenty of time to get to know the communist world a little. The adventures there are described in a series of blog posts starting at unsustainableideas.wordpress.c .

@carusb Wow, pretty cool! I've recently begun drafting away a short alternate sci-fi story about Bulgaria cracking AI back in the 80s, and your blog post series came completely out of nowhere. Call that coincidence :)

@preslavrachev Thanks Preslav. I was tempted to reply that the whole hard currency thing would have made AI a bit tricky, but then realised I was stupidly trying to jam 20-20 hindsight into alternate science fiction... Go you!
