DopeGhoti<p>Question for folks who use multiple OSs and modern keyboards:</p><p>What do you call key key between Control and Alt on the left-hand side of your keyboard? I've been cringing since the key's mainstream acceptance every time I have fallen back to referring to it as the "Windows" key. </p><p>Its lesser-used companion over on the right, I have taken to calling the Menu key which is suitably OS-agnostic.</p><p>"OS Key" and "OEM Key" seem wrong. "Meta" isn't right, because that's Alt's alias, especially in Linuxland. "Function Key" would almost work but for the identically-named key on most laptop and small form factor keyboards.</p><p>"Macro Key"? "Shortcut Key"? @ck @sven222 @kuketzblog problem is @signalapp is a #Centralized, #Proprietary, #SingleVendor & #SingleProvider solution that falls under #CloudAct and demands #PII in the form of #PhoneNumbers.
- So even if we'd agree that #XMPP+#OMEMO as implememented in @monocles / #monoclesChat & @gajim / #gajim is bad (and #PGP/MIME over XMPP isn't good either) there are still better options than #Signal (i.e. @delta / #deltaChat which uses PGP/MIME & #IMAP-Push aka. #eMail) that don't require a #PhoneNumber, allow #SelfHosting and are truly #OpenSource with an #OpebStandard that allows for real #E2EE as in #SelfCustody of all the #Keys.
