C.<p>So, three (3) months ago, I got an unexpected letter from my credit card company. They notified me that my account "may" [1] have been compromised, and that "out of an abundance of caution", they were preemptively cancelling my credit card, and issued me a new one (with a different account/card number).</p><p>I'd had that card for 20 years. Changing the info held on file at all kinds of online stores and other financial services and various other things took a fair bit of time, spread over a couple of months as I ran into places I'd set up with the old one. But more critically, remembering the *new* number, and getting it into muscle memory, also took quite a while - I had to keep double-checking every time I needed the number, up until about 2 weeks ago, when I started feeling confident I had memorized it correctly.</p><p>So today, I get essentially the same letter, and *another* new card/number... 😢 [2]</p><p>So I get to do the whole dance again! Here's an idea, but maybe make your systems more secure?</p><p>[1] weasel words<br>[2] in case you're curious, the new one starts with a digit</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/CreditCard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CreditCard</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/fraud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fraud</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/AbundanceOfCaution" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AbundanceOfCaution</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/WeaselWords" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WeaselWords</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/weasel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>weasel</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/may" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>may</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/compromised" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>compromised</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/security" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>security</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/clueless" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>clueless</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/YourPrivacyIsImportantToUs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>YourPrivacyIsImportantToUs</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/privacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>privacy</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/financial" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>financial</span></a></p>

SK Telecom says malware breach lasted 3 years, impacted 27 million numbers

"This breach allowed attackers to steal data that included IMSI, USIM authentication keys, network usage data, and SMS/contacts stored in the SIM.

The #telecom firm mentions that it identified 25 distinct #malware types in 23 #compromised servers, so the extent of the #breach is far more extensive than initially anticipated."

Continued thread

In late Jan, #Trump wrote online, “I LOVE $TRUMP!!” In March, adopting the writing style of a tween, Trump published a follow-up item that read, “I LOVE $TRUMP — SO COOL!!! The Greatest of them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

But last week, the endeavor reached a new level: A website promoting one of the president’s #crypto offerings launched a contest of sorts, in which those who purchased his #MemeCoin would have a chance to win special #access to Trump.

Continued thread

What was to stop a foreign government, eager to bribe the American president, from quietly dumping money into #Trump’s #crypto project, effectively making direct payments to the president w/o public disclosure? Nothing.

The day after being sworn into office, Trump continued to use his social media platform to promote his controversial #MemeCoin. In the weeks that followed, his efforts continued.

Continued thread

When pressed to justify their efforts, the #GOP’s #impeachment proponents pointed to an informant who brought bribery allegations to the attention of the FBI. That same informant was ultimately sent to prison — because he lied to the FBI about Biden.

That said, if there are still ofcls looking for a burgeoning controversy surrounding a president & the potential for… #bribes, do I have a story for them.…

I can’t believe we are now halfway through this election and #PierrePoilievre still refuses to get his #securityclearance!

The issue has only grown cold because Poilievre controls and limits questions while his online #propaganda campaign deems it a nothing burger.

Poilievre could have easily taken this issue off the table by getting security clearance months ago, instead he continues to make ridiculous excuses and commits to running for PM without it. Unconscionable.

There couldn’t be a sketchier choice for PM. Pierre is clearly just another political trump hiding his skeletons in plain sight. Possibly one of the most #compromised Canadian PM candidates ever.

The worst thing about this is that if #Poilievre were to win, he would be given security clearance regardless, and he knows it. Honestly, he shouldn’t even be qualified to run for PM without it.
