Reached our local towing company (guy), and scheduled a jump or tow tomorrow morning for Ol' Blue. One way or the other, she'll be at my preferred auto repair shop in plenty of time for Thursday's repair appointment.

PITA. You do not want electrical and starting problems with your vehicle in the middle of the coldest Winter we've had here in years.

Counting down the days left before "Indigo Montoya" (my new 2025 Subaru Forester) is sitting in my driveway (~12).

Oh, yeah. Full on blizzard out there, snow drifting around, no sign of plow trucks at all. I have an order of beef brisket and smoked chicken wings to pick up at a local BBQ place tomorrow. Two days ago, I couldn't get Ol' Blue to start. I'm certain this will all work out just fine. 🙄

Breakfast this morning (at home): pancakes (with real Pennsylvania maple syrup), scrapple, and a fried egg. Just about exactly twice as much as I needed to eat. 😋 🤣

Scrapple is pork sausage ground together with corn meal, then formed into small loaves. Thick slices of scrapple are then fried in a pan, before being served.

"Carter’s order gave the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), a branch of the White House, the authority to issue binding regulations governing how federal agencies must comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (#NEPA). Trump, by revoking it, takes away that power from the #CEQ."

Vox · Trump rescinded a half-century of environmental rules. Here’s what that could mean.By Dylan Matthews

Got out and about midday. It's cold enough that I need to run Ol' Blue more than 1x/week, to keep her battery healthy. We already have a couple inches of snow on the ground, but the roads are clear. Got back home just in time: we're forecast for a few more inches of snow this afternoon, and the heavier snowfall just began. ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Supreme Court could narrow the scope of federal environmental reviews, with less consideration of how projects would contribute to #ClimateChange

The #NEPA “rule of reason” standard may be at risk.

"If the court rules that agencies don’t have to consider indirect effects that are out of their direct regulatory control, most agencies could simply ignore indirect climate change impacts, since they have no direct control over sources of greenhouse gas #emissions."

"The researchers urge the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which approves satellite deployments in the U.S., to halt megaconstellation launches and conduct a thorough assessment of their possible environmental impacts before awarding further licenses."
