“Parliament” is in a gothic script. “Owls” has an owl eye for ‘o’ and the remaining letters are feathered. The owls are, right to left and top to bottom: the Eastern screech, Northern saw-whet, long-eared, Barred, Great Horned and the American Barn owls.

I woke up this morning at 5am to the sound of two owls having a dispute over a kill — in the tree right outside my bedroom window. I watched. One owl flew off. The other sat in the tree eating for maybe 10 minutes, then it flew off with the mangled remains of what might have been a rabbit. This has been your owl news report of the morning. I have no photos.
