Our colleague righelx did a first version of a nmap nse script to properly guess the version of SharePoint. It's still in development but it might already useful for some of you.

And maybe Microsoft is listening, to improve the mapping of CPE with their vulnerability publication...

It's not exactly a ringing endorsement of the Linux Desktop Experience when the easiest way for me to get images from my scanner is to use the app on my phone and email the pictures to myself ...

It's almost enough to have me set up a Windows box to have one-touch scanning ...

Last week I went back to the photo lab and told them I was so surprised by the rendering of the scan of my last film roll. They kindly agreed to give it another try and scanned the negative again. The second one was completely different. I happen to like them both! But it made me wonder how much control you lose when you delegate the processing and scanning of film. Unfortunately, I can't really afford to add a darkroom to my place, but maybe I could find a (simple?) way to do my own scanning?

@br00t4c that is nothing new.

#GitHub, like any public platform that allows to store data, can be #abused for malicious use.

  • Whilst GitHub doesn't ban #malware per-se, it shure as hell bans the use of GitHub to distribute and facilitate it or otherwise cause harm, damages and liabilities for GitHub, 3rd parties and other users as per their #ToS.

They do also #scan for #KnownMalware & #DMCA #violations in a #ContentID / #signature/#checksum-based #scanning type to prevent blatant #abuse by #Skiddies.

Anyone got any experience with slide/film scanners? (Not flatbed, dedicated scanner to the task).

Looking to pick up a used one to archive old slides but seems a bit of a minefield both in terms of hardware and software. Some people swear by VueScan but by all accounts the support leaves a lot to be desired.

Any insight grateful.

#AnthonyAlbanese and his communications minister, #MichelleRowland, did not rule out the potential for #socialmedia users to have their faces subject to #biometric #scanning, for #online platforms to verify users’ ages using a government #database, or for all social media users – ‘regardless of age’ – being subject to age checks, only saying it would be up to #tech companies to set their own processes.”

I remind myself, Australian governments can’t computer.

The Guardian · Australia to ban under-16s from social media – but can’t say how TikTok, Instagram and others will enforce itBy Josh Butler

I want to create a digital archive of old family photo albums, and I have all the original films (Kodak Gold 200). I'm talking 1000+ pictures.

Does anybody have recommendations for scanners, scripts, software, or wants to offer general tips for this endeavor?

I'm okay with this taking some time, I fully expect this to become quite a project, but I also want to automate as much of the process as possible.

I know nothing about analog photography, I have mediocre knowledge about digital photography, but I know a thing or two about software engineering and system administration.

Thanks for your help! 🙂
