Here me out: if having a #secondbrain is all about dumping info to search it later, what if instead of overwriting things in #obsidian we just use the Calendar, Notes, Contacts, Photos, Journal (and others) apps? I see the challenge of correlating info: like, I can’t easily tag or @ somebody in Notes, but I can do that in Photos… I can add notes in the contacts but not reference tags!

Is that the only thing preventing me from dropping extensive #markdown structure and tags? 🤔

"Systems like #obsidian promise coherence, but they often deliver abstracted confusion.
Human #memory is not an archive. It is associative, embodied, contextual, emotional. We do not think in folders.
My new system is no system at all. I write what I think. I delete what I don’t need. I don’t capture everything. I read what I feel like. I think in conversation, in movement, in context. I don’t build a #secondbrain I inhabit the first." (#JoanWestenberg)

Why I Erased 10,000 Notes, 7 Years of Ideas, and Every Thought I Tried to Save
Westenberg.I Deleted My Second BrainWhy I Erased 10,000 Notes, 7 Years of Ideas, and Every Thought I Tried to Save

Unlike most people, I'm incredibly unsentimental about my notes. So, when @Daojoan wrote that she deleted her second brain I nodded in understanding. I used to do just that with my worklogs.

A second brain isn't a shrine. It's just a utility. A tool. I don't even think my thoughts are especially, well, noteworthy.

If you want to delete a second brain and start anew, you totally can!

「 When I first started using PKM tools, I believed I was solving a problem of forgetting. Later, I believed I was solving a problem of integration. Eventually, I realized I had created a new problem: deferral. The more my system grew, the more I deferred the work of thought to some future self who would sort, tag, distill, and extract the gold 」

Tips needed!

I have been using #Obsidian for more than 2 years now. I was noticing how many notes are outdated due to complexity, plugins and things changing... Where markdown is a nice format, it is clear that I have spent way too much time tinkering.

So I am going minimal with my #SecondBrain. I will try again #AppleNotes and I feel that way too many basic features are missing, and probably I will look back to Obsidian with no plugins. Any suggestion/tips on how to improve Notes?

starting my obsidian vault over - going to try to keep it simple, use the basic features to the maximum and try to keep it ultimately more useable.

if you had #obsidian to do over, for a #secondbrain type setup, what would you do?

i have gone through the #johnnydecimal system and i like it but i’m not sure how make it work well if obsidian is all text and i want to organize all files (.pdf, images, sound clips, etc), maybe i’m missing something.

Finally tackling the web app to create and save notes or thoughts throughout the day to my #SecondBrain housed in a #GitHub repo.

Was able to reuse code from a simple GitHub CMS project I started last year.

Currently, new notes are going to the December folder for my Journal entries, but I can easily change that. Will probably create a separate "Inbox" or "Notes" folder once it's fully functional.

Out of curiosity, has anyone out there worked up any integrations between #Omnivore and #Inoreader?

Trying to escape the cost of #Readwise—not to mention that their reader has never quite felt as comfortable for me as Inoreader.

I figure I'll either try to create a tag-based #RSS feed to ship things from Inoreader to Omnivore or maybe jump into #Makedotcom for some API shenanigans.

But if anyone has any existing setups, I can start with, why reinvent the wheel?

Ich bin mit den digitalen Notizbüchern irgendwie weiterhin unzufrieden.. Bisher nichts gefunden, was meinen Anforderungen gerecht wird.
