If you're a coder who enjoys making demo scene or other pixel bending stuff then I recommend tuning into the geometry, material, and compositing nodes in Blender. With their graphical editors and programming APIs, they provide a nice balance of quick setup with complete coder control.
If learning via high production value videos works for you then I recommend the Harry Blends' channel:

A note to everybody and nobody in particular...

When you post multiple images of art or photos or comics or whatever in just one post, they are so tiny on a phone I can't even tell what they're supposed to be sometimes.

Wouldn't you like people to decide to share your stuff? I won't if it's unintelligible.

It would be so much better to give each image it's own post.

Thanks.

Tribute to the revolutionary Amiga 1000, which pushed digital audiovisuals to new heights in 1985.

I loved the Amiga conversion of Marble Madness, and completing the game with a joystick was harder than using a mouse.

➡️ Sorry for the repost. Pixelfed sometimes shows artifacts in an image after uploading.

Remember #libobscura ?

The project didn't attract a huge community, but it did teach me stuff so obscure that few people apart from the authors understand it.

So I started writing it down, for everyone's benefit.

If you had questions about #DMABUF, I try to explain it on my #blog :

Thanks to all the people who explained it to me. Some parts are really confusing.

(Please report mistakes.)

dorotac.euNotes on DMABUF and video

Visual effects like #MotionBlur, #ChromaticAberration, #FilmGrain, and #Vignette are often overused.

While they can add style, they frequently reduce clarity and distract from the content.

- Motion blur can make scenes feel messy or sluggish.
- Chromatic aberration often looks artificial and strains the eyes.
- Film grain hides detail and can feel like low-quality noise.
- Vignettes overly direct attention and shrink visual space.

#Devs Use them with care — less is usually more.

Here is a preview design for a (business) card promoting the Fediverse (made in Inkscape).
I plagiarized the idea from
@juergen_hubert@mementomori.social who has created card templates people can print and give out at protests.
Instead, i'm doing fully designed cards for more generic use. Lending my graphic design skills to the community. I will put these out as print ready files under a (non-commercial) Creative Commons license - so anyone can get a stack cheaply printed themselves to give out places or leave in coffee shops etc.
If there is interest, I will do a bunch of different designs, different languages, and a US size (I'm designing to EU standards). Plus maybe some stickers and posters too?
This particular design is my trademark 'busy with movement' style. I've based the design on the colours and shapes from the official Fediverse logo.

Gotta love good ol' 1-bit pixel dithering (ordered, Floyd-Steinberg, etc.) 💚

NVIDIA is full of shit

Since the disastrous launch of the RTX 50 series, NVIDIA has been unable to escape negative headlines: scalper bots are snatching GPUs away from consumers before official sales even begin, power connectors continue to melt, with no fix in sight, marketing is becoming increasingly deceptive, GPUs are missing processing units when they leave the factory, and the drivers, for which NVIDIA has
