Thanks to the @fsf for promoting GNU Guix's fundraising.

Like many other Free Software project's we depend on our users and fans support to pay for the project's expenses.

We're running a campaign to 'sustain and strengthen' Guix. As a #linux distribution we have a lot of #packages which costs quite a bit to build and distribute to users. And, as we use the declarative and reproducible system pioneered by #Nix we rebuild packages whenever there's a change.

If you'd like to know more about what we're doing, or support the project you can check out the blog post:

We appreciate any support that people can give!

How can labs keep #experimental #data safe, shareable, and #reproducible?

At the @universityofgroningen Stratingh Institute, a new system links measurement devices to secure storage, automating backups and cutting the risk of data loss. It’s a glimpse of how smart #DataManagement can make #research #FAIR and future-proof.

Read how embedded data stewards develop practical solutions for data management in the lab:

We are celebrating 10 years of #reproducible builds in #FDroid this year, and we are overhauling the way the build server works.

Thanks to the funding from #NLnet, #NGI #NGI0 part of #HorizonEurope, and your donations, our work is intended to power the future of #FDroid for the next ten and more.

Dig deeper for the why and the how in this 15 mins post: f-droid.org/2025/05/21/making-

@jr @itzzenxx which I think is bad since @fdroidorg actually aims to do #FLOSS in a #reproducible and verifyable manner...

Also one doesn't upload an #APK to #Fdroid - they just pull the repo and build it from source.

Which is why they only accept FLOSS...

Not shoure how @accrescent does it or whether they accept CCSS and / or Freeware that isn't FLOSS and provided as source, tho they seem to hint at that...

I'll just have to see what they support outside of what #FDroid does and what they've in store... If they support F-Droid - compatible repos than switching may be an option...

I especially like it because the conclusion comes close to my own interest in not only reproducibility but bootstrappability of software.

We all know science is supposed to be all about reproducibility. The extent to which this is accomplished varies a lot depending on the field of science and how high up the abstraction layer the research is, but there is a growing movement of reproducible science, and in many modern fields that even directly intersects with reproducibility of software.

But who is working on the bootstrappability of science, science education and science communication? Now there's a nut to crack.
