CAFE DE CALABAZA

1 oz orange juice
2 oz pineapple juice
1 oz coconut cream
¼ oz allspice dram
¼ oz cinnamon syrup
¼ oz falernum
¾ oz espresso liqueur
1½ oz mezcal espadín

Garnish: pineapple frond, cinnamon stick, grated nutmeg
Method: Combine all ingredients in a shaker with crushed ice, shake, and open pour into mug. Garnish with love.

It's pumpkin spice without the pumpkin! Although this type of cocktail normally makes its rounds in the fall, I still love to reach for something like it when winter stubbornly marches on. The color is nothing to write home about so I threw it into my handmade False Idol mug by Bosko. Cocktail is originally by Brian "shakerofspirits" Maxwell.

THREE DOTS AND A DASH

½ oz lime juice
½ oz orange juice
½ oz honey syrup
¼ oz falernum
¼ oz allspice dram
1½ oz Rhum Agricole Vieux ❽
½ oz Blended Aged Rum ❸
1 dash Angostura bitters

Garnish: three maraschino cherries, pineapple chunk
Method: Add all the ingredients to a drink mixer tin. Fill with 12 oz crushed ice and 4-6 agitator cubes. Flash blend and open pour with a gated finish into a footed pilsner glass. If you don't have a drink blender (I don't) then shaking obviously does the trick.

For the garnish use one spear for three maraschino cherries and the pineapple chunk. Place horizontally on the rim of the glass. It represents V for victory in Morse code •••—

This drink is a certified tiki classic from Don the Beachcomber during WWII, later decoded by Jeff Beachbum Berry, and republished in the Smuggler's Cove book, page 43.

2 oz pineapple juice
½ oz lime juice
½ oz demerara syrup
¾ oz Campari
1½ oz Black Blended Rum ❺

Garnish: pineapple frond
Method: Add all the ingredients to a drink mixer tin. Fill with 4-6 agitator cubes. Flash blend and pour with gated finish into a Collins or highball glass and add garnish.

No cocktail feed is complete without one of the titans of tiki, the Jungle Bird! Always a crowd pleaser with its bitter-but-sweet balance, and a garnish sure to turn heads as it gets placed in front of you. This spec comes from Smuggler's Cove, page 96.

MOTHERSHIP tiki bar

Another stop on our bougie bar tour, this is a tiki bar with EXACTLY my kind of kitsch: a mix of tiki with strong Star Trek original series vibes. Rock formations and glowing crystals adorn every booth, with some benches looking like salvaged spaceship benches. We sat in the back and got to take the whole scene in. The rum bowl was quite a spectacle, momentarily simulating a crash with their lighting/sound effects.

Our second round was pictured here with three drinks off of their holiday menu: Joy Serum (old fashioned), Metagalactic butter rum (hot drink), and Holy Diver (tiki long drink). The other pic is the bar itself.

22.5ml orgeat
30ml lime juice
15ml orange liqueur

Shake and strain in a tumbler full of ice and garnish with mint spring.

Not bad, I've never drunk a #Negronitwist I didn't like, but it left me wanting a "real" #Negroni.

1 oz Jamaican Blended Aged Rum ❸

Garnish: pineapple frond, coffee beans
Method: Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake. Double strain over a big rock and garnish.

A really lovely jungle bird riff when you need a pick-me-up in the afternoon. A little caffeinated, a little boozy! The coffee-infused Campari is really delightful on its own and absolutely stands out in this spec. First seen from IG subtletiki.
